A Study on the Extraction of Protective Antigen from Bordetella Pertussis

Abstract
Previous reports involving protective antigen from B. pertussis cell have been carried out for several years.
The present report represents a continuation of those studies and describes the effect of treatment of distilled water, methyl alcohol, and 0.15M sodium chloride solution on protective antigen and toxicity from B. pertussis.
Results were as follows:
1) The multiple potencies of B. pertussis antigen extracted with distilled water, alcohol and 0.15M sodium chloride were 1. 0, 0.89 and 0.64.
2) The order fo preparations caused reduction of toxicity of B. pertussis antigen was extraction with 0.15M sodium chloride, alcohol and distilled water.
